Our story
What began as a exploratory project to see what was possible with modern production methods and design tools, Exposing Engineering was founded to bring a novel film camera platform to the photography community.
Early engagement with the community through social media and in-person photography events revealed a need for a new tool to match everyone’s individual creative journey and vision. We, along with many other photographers, are continuously exploring how to capture and express what we see. Going from camera system to camera system and format to format can be costly, creatively challenging, and limiting as each move comes with a technical learning curve that must be surpassed. We hope to change that with innovative camera designs, starting with the VZ-6617.

We want to encourage creative exploration and growth in photographers by offering them a camera that frees them from the paradigm of fixed frame sizes and composition types.
We understand that sometimes the composition calls for the expansiveness of a 6x17 panorama or intimacy of a 6x6. The equipment should not be the limitation for capturing the moment.
We also understand the need for your equipment to match where you are in your creative journey. Finding the style or subject matter that you are most creative with requires curiosity and experimentation. We want our cameras to offer that flexibility and accompany you on that path.
